To further our goal of connecting and supporting research on Global Digital Cultures, the RPA is pleased to offer limited funding of up to €5,000 for UvA researchers working on related themes. Do you have a proposal for an event, small-scale research project or other activity, e.g. exhibition, that speaks to the objectives and themes of the RPA ? Before applying please read the mission objectives of the RPA to see if your proposal aligns with the objectives and scope of Global Digital Cultures and the criteria and requirements for the call as outlined below.
What does the funding cover and not cover?
This limited call for funding is aimed at providing financial support for:
- Events and activities: including- but not limited to- workshops, conferences, special guest/ public lectures, book launches, panel discussions, hackathons exhibitions. These may involve a non-UvA external party but must be lead and coordinated by a UvA research partner; the funding is not meant to subsidize externally organized events/ activities.
- Research project: given the limited amount of funding on offer and respective time constraints, the funding cannot be used to fund teaching replacement(s) and/ or FTE/ salary buyouts. Please also bear the following in mind: 1) if the project intends to hire a student or research assistant, the applicant is responsible for liasing with the project manager and their respective secretariat/ department/ faculty/ centre where the assistant will be based to ensure that the individual in question is hired at the appropriate (pro-rata) rates and according to the correct contractual procedures. Only when these requirements are met can the grant be fully approved; 2) if the project involves collaboration and/or services rendered by a third party, the applicant is responsible for liasing with the project manager to ensure all relevant conditions for a collaboration are communicated and met before the grant can be fully approved. In your application you must clearly stipulate all relevant details pertaining to the external collaboration such as 1) the parties involved (especially external individuals and third party organizations), 2) contact information), 3) nature of the collaboration/services, including if relevant, amount and terms of compensation.
- Supporting publications: the funding can be used towards publications such as proof-reading, editing, and translation but not open-access costs.
